Folks, it has arrived… Well, it’s arrived in the States at least. Be advised, Lupe Fiasco has released The Cool. Due to drop in the UK mid January, and already getting heavy play in the US, the Chi-town native’s second solo project is catching attention on both fronts.
The new album is the second part of a “trilogy” which is being forecast to see Lupe release a third and maybe final album cunningly titled LupEND. (Reading this, you could say that it is being said with some uncertainty and even disbelief) It can be looked at as somewhat of a puzzling and even crazy idea to some.
An artist who has actually been putting in work for some years behind the scenes, then making a name for himself while picking up a following of supporters in the mainstream; and not quite flirting with the idea, but actually seeming almost certain of retirement. That’s crazy right? RIGHT??? One person has that answer, and we all know who that is.
But until that time comes, our focus will be strictly on The Cool.
This album continues on from the story told on the track [of the same title] from his debut album Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor. The first single off the album, “Superstar”, features Matthew Santos whose voice can be remembered singing the hook to “American Terrorist” from the first album.
“Dumb It Down”, produced by Soundtrakk, is the official street single from the album, in it Lupe got some lyrics that simply gotta be heard.
Track listings include: “Hip Hop Saved My Life”, “The Coolest”, “Go Go Gadget Flow”, and “Paris, Tokyo” to name some. Take notice of Different styles of Lupe’s delivery (flow) throughout the album, overall its one for picking up… Check it out.
